Since you put it this way, it's not pointless but approximately done right? But I must admit that I'm amused at some of the engine works that has been posted up here. For simple engine work like degreeing camshaft, stuff like this shouldn't happen, regardless who walked you thru or how many people has done it the same way. (wether they're clueless of just want to take the short cut). The ONLY way to do it right is to install the soft valve springs, degree the cams, then re-install the OEM springs again. Sure it take more works but at least it's right. How can you measure the lifter's movement while the lifter itself is collapsing? If simple stuff like that is "half-assly" done, I can't think of the more complicated stuff.
